1. Bachelor’s degree in: (Preferably)

  • Aviation (Covers physics, aerodynamics, aviation sciences, finance, economics, and management)

(Can earn a master’s degree in aviation management or Airport Administration)

2. Develop skills need: (To achieve these skills, you can either enter a leadership course or get involved in stuff that require teamwork such as volunteering at food banks and etc…)

  • Leadership

  • Motivation, and able to motivate a team

  • Communication skills

  • Logistics

  • Airport operations and rules

  • Problem-solving

  • Decision-making skills

  • Work under-pressure

  • Planning skills

  • Organizational skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Technology

3. Gain experience working in an airport

  • You can either get a role working in an airline, working as a baggage handler or customer service to get to know how the aviation industry operates.

  • Or get experience in customer service, or manager roles that can give you experience such as, retail, hospitality (Extending a welcome to guests)

4. Apply to become an assistant manager

  • You will be overseeing some aspects of airport operations and providing support to the manager of the airport

​

5. Progressing into a manager role (2 ways:

  • First: Either gain experience working in related fields to becoming a manager such as logistics, and then with the right experience and qualifications you might be able to able to a manager role

 

  • Second: You can do a formal management training programme that is either provided by an airport or General Aviation authority of that country
